Since 1992, The Children's Foundation of Muskoka has been supporting kids from low-income homes to meet their recreational, educational and emotional needs. Our vision is to help create an equitable Muskoka where all kids have access to the opportunities and supports they need to be happy, healthy and to feel a sense of belonging.
Covid-19 has certainly caused a number of challenges and hardships for the children and families we serve. Charities have also been hit hard during this time - in fact, the CFM stands to lose about $75 000 in fundraising that would normally be available to go directly to kids in Muskoka. In an effort to partially offset that, we are running a couple of fundraisers this summer we hope you can help us out with.
Our first on-line raffle is now underway with incredible prizes thanks to the generosity of some of our local business friends! A big thanks to Sandhill Nursery, Huntsville Canadian Tire, Summer Water Sports of Muskoka and TruLOCAL for their contributions. For your chance to win a $250 gift certificate from Sandhill, a barbeque and $250 package of locally sourced organic meat delivered to your door, or an SWS 3-hour 'Cottage Clinic' including use of a Mastercraft boat, a large selection of equipment and instructors either at your dock or place of choice, go to childrenofmuskoka.com for tickets. On Saturday August 29th and Sunday August 30th, we are partnering with Anne Lindsay to host Muskoka's Incredible Race. It's a morning of great fun, adventure and comradery - no prior Incredible Race or high-level fitness required! Cost to enter is $59/person with a minimum of $100 in sponsors or donations to the CFM (tax receipt provided). Enter in teams of 2 or 4 (ages 12+) at muskokasincrediblerace.ca and click on the link for the CFM fundraiser. Prizes to be awarded to the top fundraisers - stay tuned for details!! The Race finishes at the Huntsville Town dock and will include a nice wrap-up on the Muskoka River. How much summer fun is that? Spaces are limited so book yours early.
