Safer Hwy. 11 Muskoka is a group formed to revive provincial promises to upgrade dangerous level crossings of Hwy 11 between Bracebridge and Huntsville. In a letter to the LWRA, they note:
"The stretch of Hwy. 11 between Bracebridge and Huntsville has seen 670 accidents in the past decade. Many of them are because of at-grade intersections that force vehicles to cross lanes with cars traveling more than 100km/h.
It’s a recipe for disaster. And 10 years ago the government committed to replacing the at-grade intersections with overpasses and other improvements. They said at the time this would significantly improve road safety.
Nothing has happened in the last 10 years, but we’re going to change that. "
