As you will see by reading the rest of this newsletter, the LWRA has been busy on a number of different fronts. In addition to three very successful social events in 2011, the LWRA has been involved in a number of matters that relate to other organizations.

Wood Waste Processing Proposal

This past December, we were approached by local residents and asked to look into a proposal by Green's Haulage to start processing wood waste at their Jessop Lane quarry site. Residents are primarily concerned about the potential noise and the increase in truck traffic.

Blueberry Island Restoration Project

We have received approval from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and a permit from the Ministry of Natural Resources to proceed with the in-water phase. This follows the previous MNR approval of the signage and on-shore replanting. We will be seeking volunteers to help haul rocks to the island sometime mid-summer.

Muskoka has done it to us again. Over 16’ of snow this year! The record is just over 18’. As of the date of this writing, the lake is still frozen and the snow banks are still in place.

Summer is approaching, high lake levels are receding to normal and the ducks are tending their nests on the shoreline. Your directors have been busy over the winter with various issues pertinent to our association lakes.
