To all Lake Waseosa Residents and Members of the LWRA, my name is Mike Filipowitsch, and I'm happy to be able to introduce myself to you as the new Director of Camp Huronda, owned and operated by the Canadian Diabetes Association!
My camping experience began 15 years ago at YMCA Camp Belwood in Fergus, Ontario. Since those early years I've had the opportunity to be a part of some amazing staff teams at a variety of outdoor centres and residential camps in Ontario, holding just about every camp position available, including head chef! In 1994, camping lead me to Lakehead University where I studied Outdoor Recreation. Currently I'm finishing a specialized Bachelor of Education that emphasizes the experiential, ecological and environmental aspects of education. I will be conducting my placement at Gravenhurst High School this Spring, thus allowing me to move into Camp mid-March and immerse myself in the site.
I believe that camp is a community, a family that works together to create and facilitate activities and experiences that are meaningful and long lasting. I believe that the lake residents are an extension of this family and I look forward to an opportunity to not only meet my new neighbours, but find out how I can be a contributing member to the Waseosa family. Please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime... whether you have questions, or simply would like to say "howdy"!
Excitingly, Camp Huronda is celebrating it's 40th season of operation on Lake Waseosa this summer!

Sincerely,
Mike "Flip" Filipowitsch
