Pieper Subdivision

In 2002, Sybil Pieper announced her intention to subdivide her property. It was a controversial proposal, bitterly opposed by most residents of Waseosa, and originally, the Town of Huntsville. After the Town rejected the proposal, the applicant appealed to the OMB and a long legal battle ensued.

While the LWRA and the Town originally agreed to cooperatively defend the appeal, the Town concluded a secret deal at a closed door session, agreeing not to oppose the appeal without informing us. The LWRA proceeded on our own and surprised the Town by winning at the OMB.

Apparently there were some shenanigans going on at the District of Muskoka level though, and in an unprecedented move, the District offered strong support to Pieper at an appeal of the OMB ruling. The LWRA appealed that result to the Divisional Court. We had won the first round there when the applicants dropped the case.

Then Pieper simply filed a new application.
