RICHARD ALEXANDER HARRIS (b. Dec. 1, 1933), passed away peacefully at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on Wednesday May 2, 2018. He is predeceased by his wife Beverley (Summers) and will be sadly missed by his wife Helen (Williamson), his daughter Anne Barron (Garth), his son Richard Harris (Susan), his grandson’s Michael and James, his sister Elizabeth (Antcliffe) Battram, Helen’s children and grandchildren and many friends.

Richard started coming to the lake as a child, his family renting one of the Norton cottages before his parents purchased a piece of property from Mr. Norton and built a place of their own. Richard eventually took it over and finally moved here permanently. He was long time member of the LWRA, serving on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer from 2001 to 2008. He was involved in many other Huntsville organizations too, being a Boy Scout leader and an active member of the Legion. Richard and Helen were awarded a Life Membership in the LWRA and maintained contact long after health issues enticed them to move into town and were still in regular attendance at functions like the Annual Corn Roast.

A service of memorial will be held at Billingsley Funeral Home in Huntsville on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 232 or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
