We are saddened to report the passing of Tip Logan, who died peacefully in his sleep at home on November 25, 2007. A Grey Cup winner with the Tiger Cats in 1953, he was known as "The Automatic Toe" due to his prowess kicking converts. At the time of his retirement from professional football, he was the third highest all-time scorer in the league. Tip served 15 years on the LWRA Board of Directors, including 7 years as President. Born in Fort Erie, Ontario, and educated at Queen's University, Tip continued to live in Hamilton after 5 seasons with the 'Cats, working as an insurance agent. LOGAN, J.R. "TIP" - Peacefully, at home, on Sunday, November 25, 2007, at the age of 79. Beloved husband of 55 years to Helen (nee Batt). Loving father of Claudia Logan of Hamilton, and Tim (Andrea) of Northville, Michigan, U.S.A. Cherished Poppy of Kelley and Mackenzie. Will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews. Dear nephew of Anne Jackson of Tillsonburg. Predeceased by sister Mary Lou and brother Norman. Tip was a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the early 50's, and was recognized as a member of the Fabulous Fifties All Stars and was in later years inducted into the Tiger-Cats Walk of Fame at Ivor Wynne Stadium. After his professional career, Tip was very active in football officiating at many different levels, and was an active member of the Tiger-Cats Alumni. Tip was very involved with St. John United Church, Hamilton including the Outreach committee and was the President of the Hamilton Mountain Probus Club. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive (across from the Royal Botanical Gardens), BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held from St. John United Church, 195 East 38th St., Hamilton on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow service.
